Celine Dion
Celine Dion must have learned how to turn the spotlight on herself at an early age. Being the youngest of 14 (yes - fourteen!) children, she could easily have been overshadowed. Instead she and her siblings entertained the public in their their parent's local bar.
She was twelve years old when she composed a song with her mother and brother and sang it on a demo tape she mailed to Rene Angelil. He called her the same day he heard it and ultimately became her manager. Between 1981 and 1988, Celine won numerous awards and was a very popular songstress in her native Quebec.
Her American and world breakthrough came when Disney asked her to sing the title soundtrack for 'Beauty and the Beast'. She has since wowed us over and over again, with her incredible voice and her ability to produce quality music. Obviously Celine and Rene are a phenomenal team, and in 1994 they signed another contract - a marriage license.
We recently saw her perform 'God Bless America' on the telethon "America: A Tribute to Heroes" which helped the victims of September 11th.
Currently, she is performing in Las Vegas for three years. The launch of her show coincided with the debut of her newest album, "One Heart."
