  • Capital: Victoria (on Vancouver Island)
  • Average Temperatures: varies significantly from mild coastal temperatures to desert-like with a continental climate in the interior
  • Important Industries: forestry, mining, fishing, agriculture, with growing trends in film, eco-tourism & agri-tourism
  • Provincial Bird: Steller’s Jay
  • Provincial Gem Stone: Jade
  • Provincial Flower: Pacific Dogwood
  • Provincial Tree: Western Red Cedar
  • Parkland: 10.8 million hectares or 11% of the province is protected land
