Trivia EH? Joseph Brant

  • Brant’s birth name was Theyendanega which means “He Places Two Bets.”
  • Brant was born somewhere along the Ohio River while his parents were on a hunting excursion.
  • Brant married the daughter of an Oneida Chief and they had 2 sons.
  • His first wife died of tuberculosis 3 years marrying her. Two yrs later he married her sister, who within 6 months of the marriage, also died of tuberculosis.
  • Brant made a trip to England and was known in social circles as the “Indian King”.
